Built to Last

Concrete Driveways That Handle New Jersey Winters

A driveway takes more abuse than almost any other concrete on your property — daily vehicle weight, road salt, and repeated freeze-thaw cycles every winter. We build the base and mix to handle all of it, not just to look good on install day.

We remove the old driveway if you're replacing one, grade and compact a proper stone base, and pour with the reinforcement and control joints your specific driveway needs based on its size and slope.

Replacement or New Installation

Replacing an Old Driveway or Pouring New

If your driveway is cracked, sunken, or crumbling at the edges, we remove the old slab, haul it away, and check the base underneath before anything new goes in. A new driveway on a raw lot gets the same base evaluation, so it's built right from the start.

We'll walk the site with you first, talk through width, shape, and any drainage concerns, and give you a written quote before we schedule the work.

  • Full removal and haul-away of the old driveway
  • Subgrade inspection before any new base goes in
  • Width, shape, and slope planned around your vehicles
  • Written quote and start date before we schedule

Base, Grading & Drainage

The Base Is What Keeps a Driveway From Cracking

Most driveway failures start below the surface, not in the concrete itself. We excavate to the right depth, compact a stone base in lifts, and grade the site so water sheds away from your garage and foundation instead of pooling on the slab.

If your property has drainage problems — water pooling near the garage, runoff toward the house — we can adjust the slope and grading to fix it while we're already excavating for the driveway.

  • Excavation to proper subgrade depth
  • Compacted stone base placed and tested in lifts
  • Grading that moves water away from your home
  • Drainage corrections included where needed
lo

Thickness & Reinforcement

The Right Thickness for Your Vehicles

A standard driveway for cars and light trucks is different from one that also needs to handle an RV, boat trailer, or work truck. We size the slab thickness and reinforcement — wire mesh or rebar — to match what actually parks on it.

Skipping proper reinforcement is one of the most common reasons driveways crack early. We size it once, correctly, instead of leaving you with a callback in two years.

Typical Driveway Concrete Specifications
Vehicle Load Typical Thickness Reinforcement
Cars & light trucks 4 inches Wire mesh
SUVs, pickups & trailers 5 inches Wire mesh or rebar
RVs & heavy work trucks 6 inches or more Rebar grid

Finish, Curing & Use

Finish and Cure Time

We broom-finish driveways for slip resistance in rain, snow, and ice, then protect the pour while it cures. Curing time depends on weather and mix, but we'll give you exact dates before we leave the site.

Driving on a driveway too soon is the single fastest way to damage a new pour. We'd rather ask you to park on the street for a few extra days than have you dealing with tire ruts in fresh concrete.

  • Broom finish for traction in wet or icy weather
  • Curing compound or blankets in cold weather
  • Clear walk-on and drive-on dates before we leave
  • Barricades so the driveway isn't used too early

Cost Factors

What Affects Driveway Cost

Driveway pricing depends on square footage, the condition of what's there now, base preparation, and the finish you choose. We give you an exact, written number after a free on-site estimate.

Driveways with steep grades, drainage problems, or a lot of old concrete to remove will run higher than a straightforward flat pour. We'll flag anything that affects cost before we quote the job.

Factor What It Affects
Square footage Total material and labor cost
Removal needed Demolition and haul-away of the old driveway
Base condition How much excavation and new stone base is needed
Slope & drainage Grading work to keep water away from your home
Finish choice Broom finish vs. stamped or decorative options

Why It Matters

A Driveway Built for How You Actually Use It

Your driveway is the first thing people see and one of the most-used surfaces on your property. We build it to handle real vehicle weight and New Jersey winters, not just to look good on install day.

  • Reinforcement sized to your actual vehicles
  • Control joints placed to manage cracking
  • Grading that protects your garage and foundation
  • Written estimate and timeline before we start

Common Questions

Concrete Driveway Questions

Quick answers about driveway installation and replacement. Have a different question? Call (609) 859-8488.

How much does a new concrete driveway cost?

It depends on square footage, base condition, and finish. We give you an exact number in writing after a free on-site estimate — call (609) 859-8488 or request one online.

How long before I can park on my new driveway?

You can typically walk on it after 24 to 48 hours. We recommend keeping vehicles off for at least 7 days while it cures to full strength.

Do you remove my old driveway, or just pour over it?

We remove and haul away the old concrete, check the base underneath, and pour new — we don't pour over cracked or failing concrete.

Can you widen my driveway or change its shape?

Yes. We can widen an existing driveway, add a turnaround or parking pad, or change the shape to fit how you actually use the space.
