Segmental block (SRW) systems are the most common choice for residential walls — interlocking concrete blocks that stack without mortar, in a range of colors and finishes.
Poured concrete walls are better suited to taller walls or spots that need to tie directly into a foundation, driveway, or existing structure.

When a Wall Needs Engineering
Walls under about 4 feet are usually straightforward. Taller walls carry a lot more soil pressure and often need engineered drawings and a permit before we can build.
We'll tell you upfront during your estimate if your project crosses that line, and handle the engineering and permitting as part of the job.

Most retaining wall failures come down to water, not the wall material itself — trapped water behind a wall adds pressure that block or concrete alone isn't built to hold.
Every wall we build includes gravel backfill and a drain pipe to move water away from the wall instead of letting it build up.

We excavate and compact a proper base, then build up in level courses, backfilling with gravel and setting drainage as we go rather than after the fact.
Taller or tiered walls are stepped back slightly with each course for stability, a detail that matters more than it looks from the front.
